What is speech therapy?

Speech Therapy (ST) aims to help individuals who have difficulties with communication, eating, drinking, or swallowing.

What is a speech disorder?

A speech disorder is an impairment of production (articulation) of speech sounds, fluency, or voice.

What is a language disorder?

Language disorders are defined as either receptive or expressive. 


  • Receptive language disorders refer to difficulties understanding or processing language. 

  • Expressive language disorders include difficulty expressing wants, needs, or thoughts and using language in a socially appropriate way.

Reasons why you may need speech therapy:

  • ​My child isn’t speaking like other children his age.

  • My child is a picky eater and not gaining any weight.

  • My voice sounds rough and raspy, and I get tired of talking by the end of the day.

  • My child isn’t following directions well, and has a hard time explaining things.

  • I stutter, or my child stutters.

  • My loved one was in an accident and needs help expressing his thoughts.
